Welcome to my website. Counselling in Hampshire & Dorset
At times we all struggle. And whether you’ve come here to book an appointment, or maybe just find out a little more information, hopefully you will find what you’re looking for. If you can’t, please contact me on 07901522692 (please leave a message as I may be with a client) or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I can answer any of your questions. If you want to text an enquiry, please include your email address so I can email you the reply.
I’ve been a Psychotherapist, Counsellor and Relationship Counsellor for many years, working in Basingstoke and London, and now in the Hythe New Forest area near Southampton and Alresford near Winchester.
I work using a Humanistic Psychotherapy approach, meaning we will work looking at the whole picture, rather than focusing on one thing. The counselling may include some CBT which helps you understand and change your thinking and/or your behaviours, perhaps looking at past issues or trauma, or just focusing on the ‘here and now.’ It can be short-term (6-10 sessions) or long-term (20-80 sessions) depending on your needs. This means the therapy can be adjusted to what will work for you, rather than you having to ‘fit’ into a particular approach. I work with individuals and couples, and there’s more information around the type of therapy I offer here.
I’m an Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and I’ve been working with matters of the mind since 2003. If you’re unsure about therapy, or whether I’m the right person for you, I’ll be happy to discuss this on the phone, or I do offer a 30min consultation so you can meet me, and decide this. I offer various appointments to try and be flexible around the demands of modern life.
I’m a registered Practitioner with BUPA and Aviva, and as well as meeting in the room, I also offer Skype, Telephone and On-line therapy. I provide professional services including Supervision and Training.
“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.”
- Viktor E Frankl
Anxiety is a very normal feeling for a person as it’s part of what keeps us safe from danger. But when it becomes over-active, and causes fearful feelings that stop us living a normal life, changing this becomes an important part of therapy.
Men in Therapy
Counselling can sometimes seem alien and somewhat fearful for men, and I experienced this in my first therapy. I offer counselling to men so using my own experience to help you understand how counselling can help, and not be the difficult thing sometimes believed.
Depression can be experienced by anyone and causes feeling of hopelessness, low energy, and even thoughts of not wanting to live. Therapy can help change these feelings by understanding the person’s needs to feel better.
Issues worked with;
Social Anxiety: General Anxiety Disorder: Low Self-Esteem: Depression; Phobias: OCD: Self-Harm: Loss: Panic Disorder: Fears: Pet Bereavement: Relationships; Workplace issues, Depression, Loss, Stress and others.
…I feel a little guilty as I dropped out of therapy, but I have to say 6 months later I’m feeling so much more positive and some of those coping strategies really work, so a belated thank for all your help…
